The Diagnostic of Aboriginal Procurement Strategies project was funded by Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada in 2011. This project was designed to look at procurement strategies within the electricity and renewables industry both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal. The project examined various case studies and provided the business case for working with Aboriginal businesses and the benefits of having an Aboriginal policy.
The results of the project research have identified several specific challenges in Aboriginal procurement while also providing solutions to help overcome these barriers. These challenges and solutions, as well as other project elements can be found on the project microsite: www.electricityhr.ca/daps
