Women represent only one quarter of the electricity and renewable energy workforce. Of that 25%, less than 5% are actually in trades occupations. For an industry facing significant labour market challenges, engaging this under-represented group is key. With the support of industry and provincial governments, EHRC launched its Bridging the Gap project to examine the issues and barriers around the recruitment and retention of women into the electricity industry. Along with the research portion, this project also sought to develop practical solutions for employers and other stakeholders to overcome these challenges.
