Ottawa, ON – April 23, 2015 – Today, Hydro Ottawa hosted the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, along with Joan Crockatt, Member of Parliament for Calgary – Centre, who announced Government of Canada funding for a project to increase opportunities for the advancement of women in the electricity sector.

Electricity Human Resources Canada will develop and test a sustainable mentorship model that will help women advance in the electricity sector. The project will engage women working in the industry, who will identify the barriers to opportunities and advancement, as well as any gaps in programs and services. The organization will work with local colleges, and industry stakeholders including private companies, to develop a mentorship model that will be tested in Ontario and Manitoba.
