(May 22, 2018 – Ottawa) Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) and the Ontario Waterpower Association (OWA) are pleased to announce that the organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cultivate a partnership that will provide both organizations to actively support the field of human resources in Canada’s electricity industry. The initial emphasis of the partnership will concentrate on the expansion of participation by youth, women and Indigenous people in Ontario’s waterpower sector.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with the Ontario Waterpower Association to strengthen and support opportunities between our two organizations, and we look forward to working together on initiatives that will develop skilled talent and future leaders in the industry.” added Michelle Branigan, CEO EHRC.
“Waterpower has a proud history in Ontario and there is significant potential to expand,” said Heather Ferguson, Chair of the OWA’s Board of Directors. “Collaborating with EHRC in these important areas will help ensure we have the talent and diversity required to sustain and grow our industry.”

As Canada’s most trusted source of objective human resource information with market information and tools to help the Canadian electricity industry, it provides a platform for industry needs, identifying ways to make Canadian businesses “best in class.”
The OWA has more than one hundred fifty (150) member companies including generators, developers, equipment manufacturers, engineering, environmental and legal firms, all with a shared commitment of advancing waterpower in Ontario. The industry invests more than $300 Million annually in existing facilities and recent development was estimated to create more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.
