Keynote Speaker

We are pleased to welcome Cheryl Cran, leadership and change expert, as our keynote speaker. Recognized as the #1 Future of Work influencer by Onalytica, Cheryl’s research into the future of work, technology, innovation, and generational impact driven by her “people first” philosophy, provides data and strategies to help drive business transformation. Cheryl is the founder of NextMapping and CEO of parent company Synthesis at Work Inc. She is also the author of seven books, including NextMapping: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Create the Future of Work, The Art of Change Leadership: Driving Transformation in a Fast-Paced World; 101 Ways to Make Generations X, Y and Zoomers Happy at Work; and Leadership Mastery In a Digital Age. In 2014, Cheryl was awarded the Global Consultant of the Year award in Shanghai at the TMI World Partners meeting, and in 2012 she was inducted into the Canadian Speaker Hall of Fame.

2019 Leader of the Year

The Leader of the Year award was established by EHRC in 2013 to recognize and celebrate an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their organization within the Canadian electricity industry.

We’re pleased to announce that the 2019 Leader of the Year is Lisa Nadeau, the Vice President of Human Resources at the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).

Panel of Leaders

EHRC will be hosting a special panel discussion about innovative and disruptive technologies that are dramatically changing the way we work across every sector of the economy. Mark Chapeskie, our Director of Programs, will moderate the panel. We expect discussion to include the advancements in artificial intelligence, automation and how we can make workplaces more efficient, productive and collaborative by using technology including on how they are affecting the workforce.

Mark Chapeskie – Moderator

As Director of Programs and Development, Mark leads the project and program delivery teams at Electricity HR Canada. Mark has also worked in the international development field in sub-Saharan Africa where he focused on local economic development initiatives and judicial reform. He began his international development journey with a livelihood development research project in Uganda. His work has also taken him to Asia, where he taught English and developed curricula at local schools in Taiwan, experience he has applied in Canada in the development of an online, industry-specific English language course.

In his spare time Mark volunteers with organizations such as the Foundation Fighting Blindness, QuickStart Autism and Chairs the Autism Family Advisory Committee at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Kathy Parker

Kathy Parker is a PwC Consulting Partner and the leader of the People and Organization Consulting practice in Toronto. A seasoned leader with 23 years of consulting experience with a focus on helping people and organizations maximize their effectiveness and results. Kathy works with her clients – from Executives to staff levels – to help them successfully adapt their workforce to meet the needs of the digital world, improve the experience of employees, and shift organizational culture. More specifically, she helps them to refine and adapt their talent programs, to assess and adapt culture, to realign their organization structures, manage change effectively to achieve their business goals, and prepare for and manage the business challenges associated with a digital world.

Kathy holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Manitoba, and was the Governor General Gold Medalist, for highest standing in a Masters program.

Katherine Sparkes

Katherine Sparkes is the Director of the Innovation, Research and Development team within the IESO where she is responsible for driving initiatives in support of grid modernization and the removal of barriers to private sector investment in solutions that support the reliability, adequacy and affordability of Ontario’s electricity supply.  Her team works with partners across the energy sector and beyond to understand emerging technologies, services, practices and policies that will help meet Ontario’s current and future electricity needs.  Katherine previously held various leadership roles in Conservation and Demand Management leading the design of award-winning Conservation & Demand Management (CDM) programs. Katherine has worked in the consulting and non-profit sectors and taught at the Energy & Infrastructure Program at Osgoode Hall Law School. Katherine is an Urban Planner by training.

Ron Dizy

Ron is Spark Power’s Chief Commercial Officer with over 25 years of experience in the technology and advanced energy sectors. Ron’s role is to drive growth at Spark Power through best-in-class sales, marketing, and business development. He is leading the development of a richer set of offerings that bring cost-effective, customer-centric solutions to market that address cost, quality & reliability, and power sustainability.

Prior to joining Spark, he was the SVP of Partnerships at MaRS where he was responsible for helping utilities around the world find ways to adopt innovation at scale, to help them survive in a world being rapidly changed by technology, customer preferences, and regulation.

An active participant in the advanced energy sector, he is frequently sought out by government, agency, and utility organizations to offer his pragmatic perspective and lend his deep and varied experience.

Neetika Sathe

Neetika Sathe is Vice President of the Alectra Green Energy & Technology Centre (GRE&T Centre) where she leads innovation projects in the energy industry.

Through Neetika’s direction, the GRE&T Centre is Alectra’s latest step to be at the forefront of exciting industry changes to make energy innovations come to life by identifying, evaluating, developing and accelerating emerging, clean, and customer-friendly energy solutions across Alectra’s service territory.

Neetika serves on the board of several industry associations such as Electric Mobility Canada, and serves as Chair on the Board of NSERC Energy Storage Technology (NEST) Network and Vice Chair of National Electricity Roundtable.
