Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) serves as an important connector and convener within the electricity industry.
Our aim is to encourage frank and open discussion about issues affecting the industry. We want industry stakeholders – businesses, governments, regulatory authorities, educational institutions and organized labour – to discuss human resource challenges and together, develop practical solutions.
To this end, we do two things.
First, we serve as a non-partisan point of contact through which industry players can connect with each other. It’s imperative that industry players connect regularly to discuss what the industry workforce should look like and how to foster its growth.
Second, we act as a convener. Through our various events, both online and offline, industry players have the opportunity to learn, share and collaborate.

Conferences and Events
EHRC brings together industry stakeholders yearly to discuss human resource issues and to showcase the work we have undertaken. This annual event is an opportunity for employers, educators, policy makers, union representatives, Aboriginal groups and others to network and collaborate.
EHRC Awards of Excellence
In November 2013, EHRC launched its inaugural event featuring 5 awards which recognize organizations and individuals who have had a positive impact on the industry.Celebrating extraordinary achievements and giving national recognition to the champions of excellence who are making a positive and tangible impact on the workforce, awards are given in the following categories:
- Leader of the Year
- Emerging Leader of the Year
- Innovation in HR Practices – Educational / Training Institution Award
- Innovation in HR Practices – Employer Award
- Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award
Working Groups & Committees
EHRC oversees working groups for several regions: Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic, Prairies, Alberta, and BC. These groups provide forums where stakeholders can discuss various human resources issues that affect the industry, both within specific regions and across the country as a whole. In doing so, they foster cross-jurisdictional relationships that enable collaborative action.
